The Journey Play Is The Whole Thing
The Journey Play is a constellation of performance. Eighteen months of programming moving from a grog soaked tavern to the depths of the abyss, out to sea in search of a lost limb, and on into the unknown. PETE has conceived our constellation as an interconnected series of art objects, events and experiences inspired by a singular piece of source material.
There are some enterprises in which a careful disorderliness is the true method
-Melville, Moby Dick
At the center of our constellation is a play: [or, the whale] by Juli Crockett. Beneath this play is a book: Moby Dick, by Herman Melville. Our full ensemble of associate artists and founding members has worked together on each project, creating resonance between each individual performance and the constellation’s whole.
The four events of The Journey Play Is The Whole Thing are:
Drowned Horse Tavern: July 9-12, 2015
All Well: October 29-November 1, 2015
[or, the whale]: January 9-23, 2016
Procedures For Saying No: June 18-July 2, 2016
The Journey Play is supported by Ronni LaCroute, The Oregon Cultural Trust, The Jackson Foundation, and The Kinsman Foundation.
